The method involves determining the momentary place of the object (1), having anticipatory risk potential e.g. radioactive material, using a measuring system in a cabin (III) within an area (I) which is a part of an airport. The place is automatically detected by cameras (3a,3b,3c). Corresponding signals of the measuring technical and/or visual cameras are guided to the computer system, and stored and/or adjusted with data of other parts of cameras. The tracking system is set in function and the security person is alerted as the object, with risk potential, is located. An independent claim is also included for a device for the execution of the object detection method, having multiple detectors and cameras as well as a visual display with a computer system.
