Textile thread structure and speed determining method for e.g. spinning machine, involves dividing laser beam into two beams such that beams run on top of each other at angle during emission from wedge prism to intersect beams at thread
The method involves producing a laser beam (3) by a diode laser (1) and a collimator lens. A wedge prism (4) divides the laser beam into two partition beams such that the beams run on top of each other at an angle during emission from the prism to intersect the beams at a thread (8). A measuring signal is produced from a light reflected from the thread according to laser-Doppler-anemometry-method. The measuring signal is electronically evaluated for determining the structure and or speed of the thread. An independent claim is also included for an arrangement for contactless determination of structure and/or the speed of a running textile thread at a spinning location of a textile machine.
