The engine has an exhaust gas system with a number of exhaust gas flows (14, 18) that are partially separated from each other, where the flows have catalyzers (20, 22). A secondary air pump (26) is provided for supply of secondary air to exhaust gas and connected with the exhaust gas system upstream to the catalyzers by a secondary air valve (28). The secondary air pump is connected with few exhaust gas flows (14) by the secondary air valve, where the remaining gas flows (18) are separated from the secondary air pump and the secondary air valve.
