The device has a piezo actuator (4) that is intermittently connected with a gas exchange valve of a reciprocating piston-type internal-combustion engine, or with a valve stem (17) by a transmission device. The transmission device is arranged in a housing (1) or a cylinder head of the internal-combustion engine. A compression spring (8) is arranged between the transmission device and the housing or the cylinder head. The transmission device is designed as a controllable clamping device e.g. clamping collet (9) or pressure chamber (10), which is hydraulically actuatable.
