The method involves calculating a difference valve from two determined pressure values, and determining a correction factor from the calculated difference value. Controlling of a selected fuel injection valve (1) is corrected by the correction factor, and a small amount of fuel to be detected is used for test injection, where the amount of fuel corresponds to pre-injection or post-injection of heating injection for a catalyst. An independent claim is also included for a device for controlling a fuel injection valve.
