A pneumatic braking force booster has a brake booster housing (1), an actuating input member with valve stem (9), and output member (14) for pressurizing a main braking cylinder with an output force, a control valve housing (5) and a flexible reaction element (6). A device is provided for adjustment of the output active surface (A2) of the output member (14) acting on the reaction element (6) with the ratio of (A2) to (A1) determining the power transfer ratio of the brake booster. An independent claim is given for a method of adjusting a power transfer ratio of a brake booster.
