A ring-shaped guide device (GD) (10) has feet (12) to hold the GD at a distance from, and almost parallel to, a flat surface. Radial arms (14) fit between the GD and a central vertical tube (16) that stands proud of a water level (34). There are blades (22,24) beneath the radial arms between the tube and the GD. The bottom end of the tube has a clearance from the flat surface : An independent claim is also included for a method for producing a flat bed of broken stones/rubble on a sea bed.
