The piston compressor (10) has a housing (12) with an endplate of the cylinder block (11) formed as a valve plate (13). It has a suction chamber and a discharge chamber defined between the housing and valve plate. The cylinder block has multiple bores (20) each receiving a piston. There is a seal made of an iron based allow between the valve plate and cylinder block to form a gas tight seal between them. The seal has multiple suction valves formed integrally.
