A flexible mat (4''''') provides cushioning against falling objects and protection against the sun's rays. The mat is made from material that can withstand high temperatures such as glass fiber reinforced plastic, high technology fiber or weather-resistant material. Guide rails (5'''''') arranged on opposite sides of a framework allow buffering behavior of the mat when hit by falling objects. Spring elements e.g. spring bars, diaphragm springs, flexible strips or straps (24'') are also provided on the framework.
