The method is for clutch control, wherein the behavior of the engine is incorporated into the calculation of the minimum clutch torque. The minimum clutch torque is reduced, or reduced to zero, in response to the behavior of the engine. The minimum clutch torque can be reduced in a gradient-defined manner, and can be reduced as soon as the engine falls below a predetermined speed value, or may be reduced in dependence upon engine acceleration.
