The method involves shifting driving dynamics controlling between an operation mode, which is provided for road operation of a motor vehicle, and another operation mode that is provided for operating the vehicle on a roller test bench. A driver warning is released, when the motor vehicle is detected in the latter operating mode. The test criterion, which is indicative of intended road operation of the vehicle, is fulfilled, when the determined cross acceleration value is larger than a preset threshold value.
