A cooling unit for an electrical storage device (7) in an electrically driven vehicle comprises a drive motor (3) fed from the store through a rectifier and comprising a cooling unit (8) with a fan (9) sending cool air into the cabin interior. An extractor (16) removes cool air from the cabin and leads it to the electrical storage unit and a control unit (30) raises the fan speed in operation and if the electrical storage unit temperature exceeds a predetermined value. An independent claim is also included for a cooling method comprising the above.
