The strip (10) has a number of color areas, which are arranged along a scanning direction (26) on a print substrate. The color areas are a subset of measuring areas (12, 14, 16), where each of the areas (12, 14) has an edge. The edge of the area (14) lies downstream to the edge of the area (12) in the scanning direction. One of the edges has a section, which does not run perpendicularly to the scanning direction, such that a free print substrate surface (32) is provided between the edges in the scanning direction. An independent claim is also included for a method for color control of a multi-color printing.
