The arrangement has a ring (14) inserted in the region of an opening in a wall of a switch cabinet, where an electrical cable (13) passes through the opening. Bristles (20) made from stiff, resilient material e.g. steel wire, are attached to the ring. The bristles conically protrude along the entry direction of foreign body e.g. animal, where free ends of the bristles are resiliently pressed along the outer surface of the cable.
