The knob has a handle (4) pivotally mounted in a handle fitting, and a monitoring and condition reporting module arranged in a module housing. The module has sensor devices, and an evaluation unit connected with the sensor devices and a voltage supply device. The module possesses an acoustic and/or optical signal transmitter integrated in the housing. A condition display device of the module is controlled by the evaluation unit. An independent claim is also included for a window or door whose sash is provided with an olive shaped window or door knob.
