Actuator has a coil device (34) with control terminals that are provided with signal detectors (42 to 48) for detecting a voltage signal across the coil device when it is in a non-energized state. An output signal from the signal detectors is evaluated to produce a detection signal corresponding to an armature movement in the non-energized state.
