Freeze preservation of fish eggs and/or fish embryos is effected using an isotonic freeze-protection solution containing alkali(ne earth) metal salts, diffusible and nondiffusible components and buffers

An isotonic freeze-protection solution for preserving fish eggs and/or fish embryos contains (A) an alkali(ne earth) metal sa (B) an internal freeze-protection substance able to diffuse into the eggs and/or embryos; (C) an external freeze-protection substance unable to diffuse into the eggs and/or embryos; and (D) a buffer. Independent claims are also included for (1) preservation of fish eggs and/or fish embryos by incubating them in the freeze-protection solution or microinjecting them with the solution so that uniform penetration is achieved in each case, followed by freezing the thus obtained eggs and/or embryos, the incubation process taking place in 2 stages with use of a solution of higher concentration in the second stage; (2) thawing of the frozen eggs and/or embryos by warming for 10-30 seconds at 30-40[deg]C; (3) revitalizing the thawed eggs and/or embryos by adjusting the end-concentration of the internal and external freeze-protection substances and then incubating in an isotonic revitalizing solution; and (4) a cool box comprising a chamber (1) with a cover (2) and an overflow device (3), the chamber being surrounded with insulation (4) and an outer sheet (5) and having an adjustable vertical lifting device.
