The fuel cell system has a methanol supply, a circulation pump, a carbon di oxide (CO2) separator, and anode-sided pipes arranged in a system block, where an identical number of fuel cells are arranged on both sides of the system block. The system block is firmly twisted with reciprocally arranged stack halves. Contact areas of the system block to the adjacent fuel cell have less transition resistance. A circulation pump is centrally arranged in the system block.
