The amplitude based biomechanical muscle stimulator has a multipart transmission mechanism and a movable head. The position of the head is moved with an element of the multipart transmission mechanism (3, 4, 5, 6, 7). The amplitude of the moving head is controlled during forward stimulation. A motor propels a toothed belt drive (10) so that the motor having a maximum permissible engine speed reaches the highest intended stimulation frequency.
