The fastener for mounting a safety- or designer hood (28) over a car engine (27) comprises a bolt (3) which passes through the hood. A washer (2) is mounted on the bolt which has claws (9, 14) on its upper and lower surfaces. These snap on to either side of the hood. An independent claim is included for a connecting system including the fastener.
