The appliance has a deformable operating unit (7) arranged on a side of a transparent plate opposite a light source and a light detector of an input unit. Therear side of the unit (7) is impinged by the light of the source and reflects the light, where the deformation of the unit (7) effects a change of reflected light received from the detector. A snap nut (9) arranged in the unit (7) forms a reflecting region of the rear side.
