A light (1) comprises many light-conductive fibers (5) coupled to a light source (3). The surfaces of the fibers are so constituted that more than 50%, especially more than 90%, of the radiated light exits through the covering surface of the fiber. Preferably the fiber surfaces are roughened and preferably the fibers comprise polymethyl methacrylate and are connected or woven together (7).
