The sucker has a monitoring device (100) for monitoring the liquid level (101) in a receiving container (6). The device has a sensor (13) e.g. temperature sensor, in the range of a predetermined maximum fill level height of the liquid. The sensor produces a breaker signal in contact with rising liquid when the fluid reaches the predetermined maximum fill level height. The device has a control and evaluation unit (16) connected with the sensor, where the control and evaluation unit processes the breaker signal and causes a disconnection of a suction device (5) and/or activates an indicator.
