The safety document (1, 1') has a continuous opaque resist coating (3b) which covers a document. A safety layer is provided on an area having a print format (3d), co-ordinated with the confidential information (20) and which an unauthorized selection of the confidential information make viewing more difficult using transmitted light. An independent claim is included for a transfer foil.
