Two yarns, one from a fiber having anti-microbial action (1) and one from a fiber without or little such properties (2), are knitted side by side into a flat fabric, e.g. a jersey stitch. The active fibers, comprising between 18 and 80 %wt of the fabric, lie at least partially on the surface (5) that is worn against the skin. The other fibers are capable of absorbing moisture and conducting perspiration. The two yarns can be of different thickness or extensibility.
