The appliance has a lithium-ion or lithium-polymer accumulator (6) whose specific capacity is in the range of 60 to 80 ampere-hour per kilogram. A safety device (7) such as protective circuit has a temperature sensor for regulating the temperature of the accumulator, and an electronic control device (26) controls charging and discharging of the accumulator. A light emitting diode (LED)-indictor (28) is provided as a charging condition indicator (27), and maximum power deliverable by the accumulator lies in the range of 250 watts to 400 watts.
