A rack is coupled to a reduction gear with a reduced-speed drive motor. To adjust the speed of the drive motor, an adjustable friction brake element is arranged between the drive motor and drive pinion, in sliding contact with a friction surface of the drive pinion. The friction brake element preferably comprises a braking spring, such as a flat spring made of bronze or other material.
