The ring mouse has a transmission unit, which is integrated in a housing, and an adjusting ring (1), where laser radiation is emitted from a bottom side (2) of the mouse. The mouse is tapered on both sides. The unit communicates with a receiving mechanism over a defined interface which is attached to a terminal. The mouse moves a pointer on a screen by a free parallel movement in an area. The mouse is operated using an optical procedure for receiving the movement information.
