The drive has an electromagnet and a permanent magnet containing a primary part and secondary part, respectively. The permanent magnets and electromagnets are fastened on a base carrier and a slide (30), respectively. The base carrier operates together with a linear guide of a profile-guide rail (12). Two carriages are aligned on the profile-guide rail, and are moved along the rail. A load bearing unit is fastened on one of the carriages, where the load bearing unit carries the electro magnet. A processing device or a handling device is inserted into the carriage.
