The pre-coating unit coats at least one fibrous strand (34a) with additional material (28a) which enters its feed unit (26a). Pre-coating takes place, before supply of the strand or strands, into a fibrous strand feed unit (32a) of the extrusion equipment. A nozzle applies the additional material to the fibrous strand. The coating unit includes a creel frame. As the additional material is applied to the strand, the creel frame oscillates. A first and then second guide, lead the strand following the application. The second guide works the additional material into the strand.
