A decorative element (1) of plastics, having connecting strip(s) between an injection molded part (3) and a visible part with a metallized or lacquered surface, is a 2-part injection molding, the plastics of which is laser-weldable with the plastics of the connecting strip(s). The visible part is of plastics which is galvanizable, metallizable in a current-free plating bath and/or coatable with a colored lacquer or is coatable with a paint or metal layer. A decorative element (1) of plastics, having connecting strip(s) between an injection molded part (3) and a visible part with a metallized or lacquered surface, is a 2-part injection molding, the plastics of which is laser-weldable with the plastics of the connecting strip(s). The visible part is of plastics, at least the visible surface of which is galvanizable, metallizable in a current-free plating bath and/or coatable with a colored lacquer or is coatable with a paint or metal layer. The connecting strip is a sealing attachment, insertable into a receiving groove and/or sealable to the injection molding wall surface. The surface of the visible part is finished before the welding.
