The soup bowl has a cavity (4) between an inner bowl (3) and an outer bowl (2) of thin stainless steel to receive a heat retention fluid. It has a stacking shoulder (5) on the outer bowl to fit in an edge (15) running round the inner bowl, this forming a cap for the lower soup bowl. This edge should be above the stacking shoulder at about 86% of the overall height of the soup bowl.
