The drive has a measurement system for absolute position determination with a longitudinal stator (16) with electromagnets (17) and permanent magnets (18) on a carriage (1) that pass between the electromagnets on a moving door panel (2). The measurement system consists of a code band (5) with non-reproducing characters or character combinations, an optical scanning system (6), a decoder for determining the absolute position of a panel, a line sensor and at least one light source for illuminating the code band. An independent claim is also included for a measurement system for an inventive device.
