The mass is mixed with fluid to produce a bonding, castable mass. It is cast in a mold cavity containing a wax and/or plastic pattern. The mass is allowed to harden partially in-situ, and is then treated with microwaves at a power of up to 500 W, for an interval of 2-15 minutes. The pattern itself, is largely unaltered by this treatment. The furnace is then left idle for 5 minutes, with no energy input. Finally, the wax and/or plastic materials of the pattern are melted-out. An Independent claim is included for the mold made by this process.
