PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a convenient drive assist device for a vehicle capable of continuously announcing the possibility of traffic lane deviation of its own vehicle without making a driver feel any sense of trouble or nuisance. ;SOLUTION: A controller 5 judges a traffic lane deviation from the position of a traffic lane and the position of its own vehicle detected from a pair of camera pictures, and issues an alarm when the traffic lane deviation to the right side or left side is detected. This alarm is issued in every preliminarily set time interval. Also, when the direction of the traffic lane deviation is switched (from the right side to the left side or from the left side to the right side), the traffic lane deviation alarm on the switched side is immediately started.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
