Solution (A) comprises an azo dye (I) and a solvent (II), for (I), that is not acidic and is miscible with water. The concentration of (I) in (II) is from 4 g/100 ml to the solubility limit. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) method for preparing a dyeing solution by diluting (A) with an acidic solution before use; and (2) kit for coloring comprising at least one (A), a quantity of acidic diluent or concentrated acid, and optionally a diluent.
