The decontamination of large volume of water reference (V1) from nuclear thermal power stations, comprises drawing out large volume of water, supplying a small volume of water (V2) under a pressure of 1.2x105 pa by cooling process, treating the water present in small volume for a quasi-total destruction of micro organisms and reinjecting the treated water in the large volume. The ratio of small volume and a water flow represents a residence time of water in the small volume (99%), to ensure a destruction rate of the microorganisms. The decontamination of large volume of water reference (V1) from nuclear thermal power stations, comprises drawing out large volume of water, supplying a small volume of water (V2) under a pressure of 1.2x105 pa by cooling process, treating the water present in small volume for a quasi-total destruction of microorganisms and reinjecting the treated water in the large volume. The ratio of small volume and a water flow represents a residence time of water in the small volume (99%), to ensure a destruction rate of the microorganisms. The destruction treatment is a thermal-flash treatment in which the water is exposed at 70[deg]C and at a pressure of 2x105 pa for 1 minute. The thermal-flash treatment is complementary to biological/chemical oxidation before reinjecting the treated water in the large volume. The treated water present in the small volume undergoes a decantation and/or filtration of solid material suspension before reinjecting the large volume of water. The concentration of microorganisms in large volume of water reference is either stabilized or decreased. An independent claim is included for an installation to decontaminate large volume of water reference.
