The device has main and secondary plies (1, 2) extending along longitudinal and transversal axes of a motor vehicle, and a roller receiving the plies such that the plies are rolled around the roller in a storage position, where the device is flexible, thermally insulating and reflective and is made of elastic material. Housings receive the device in the storage position and are located before a seat (C) under a base. A hooking unit (5) e.g. lug, cooperates with the seat to maintain the device in a protection position on the seat.
