The invention relates to a method for measuring the quality of perception by a user of a multimedia signal (S'MULT) provided by a receiver (12), said multimedia signal being obtained by a decoding of a first coded signal (S COD) received by the receiver from a packet transmission network (14), the first coded signal corresponding to a second coded signal (SCOD) supplied to the network by a transmitter (10) and obtained by coding an initial multimedia signal (SMULT). The method includes causing the receiver to provide a first tracking signal (S'T) representative of the decoding flow or simulation of the decoding applied to the first coded signal; causing the transmitter to apply the decoding or decoding simulation to the second encoded signal and to provide a second tracking signal (ST); and comparing the first and second tracking signals.
