The vehicle has a luggage covering shelf (10) formed of a central part (11) and two lateral parts (12) each comprising a lower support plate and an upper cover plate (14). The upper plate is displaced towards the side and the rear of the vehicle by a cable and a connecting rod during tilting of a boot panel (3) towards the front of the vehicle. The upper plate is displaced between a position in which it overlaps an adjacent lateral edge of the central part and another position in which it is disengaged from the adjacent lateral edge.
