Welding of plugged cavities in high pressure pump bodies by an electron beam in a vacuum chamber, notably for fuel injection applications in the automobile industry

The welding of cavities (14) blocked by plugs (7) in a high pressure pump body (3) comprises: (A) machining the perimeter of the cavities to form a shoulder (11) and edge (16); (B) placing the plugs on the shoulder; (C) placing the assembly on a tool in a vacuum chamber and evacuating the air from the cavities; (D) effecting the welding with an electron beam. An independent claim is also included for a device for putting this method into service.
