The method involves introducing hydrogen into an anodic compartment (3) of a fuel cell via an end zone (7) of the compartment forming a hydrogen inlet. The hydrogen is introduced into the compartment via another end zone (5) forming another hydrogen inlet. The introduction of the hydrogen via the two zones is reiterated for an operating duration of the fuel cell. Purging is carried out selectively via the zones for evacuating parasite species present in the compartment. An independent claim is also included for a device for implementing a method of supplying hydrogen to an anodic compartment of a fuel cell.
