The tube has a hollow body (11) with a chamber, forming a shell. The body has a wall (16) surrounding a rotating anode shaft (7), and a ring (17) mounted at an end of the body against a transversal edge of the wall. Bearings (13, 14) with tracks and bearing parts maintain the shaft in the body. The bearing (14) has an external peripheral support surface (18) simultaneously in contact with a longitudinal inner surface (19) of the wall and a longitudinal inner surface (20) of the ring, where the spacing between the surface (20) and outer surface of the shaft does not exceed specific micrometers. An independent claim is also included for a method for mounting a shell in an X-ray tube.
