Electromagnetic actuator controlling method for valve of motor vehicle heat engine, involves controlling electromagnetic units in position by taking intermediate position as set-point value based on desired performances of actuator
The method involves determining a timing tolerance band between a movable member (8) and a stem (3) of a valve (1) during movement of the member between extreme valve open and closed positions. Intermediate positions attained by the member within the band are determined based on different values of an electrical parameter for controlling electromagnetic units (14, 15) of an actuator. The units are controlled in position by taking one of the intermediate positions as a set-point value based on desired performances of the actuator.
