The tool (1) has a guide shoe (2) inserted into an unoccupied space between a protective sheath and cables. A plough (7) positioned above the shoe has a forward or leading edge (8) sharpened to split the sheath as the tool advances, where the advancement is obtained by coupling the tool with a tool-carrier (10). The shoe has a flat convex upper surface (5) for bearing on the inside of the sheath and a sole (6), with convex longitudinal profile, between an upstream leading edge (3) and a downstream leading edge (4).
