The mechanism (1) has a fixed part (4) connected to a slide (2), and a movable part (5) sliding across the fixed part and connected to a release lever (7) permitting to evolve the movable part from a locking position in which the slide is integrated to a floor (8) of a vehicle. The release lever is extended through a steady arm (9) e.g. metallic rod, equipped with a plastic release arm (10). The release arm has a section larger than that of the release lever.
