The device has a measurement housing (10) with magnetic detectors and a support rod (20) having magnetic pellets (21) placed in an intramedullary canal orthopedic surgical instrument (0). The rod is positioned inside the instrument so that the pellets are positioned with respect to holes to be measured. A main side of the housing has lighting strips permitting to visualize a magnetic measurement result. The housing has sides on which switches operate the magnetic detectors. The housing has a bottom in which orifices are provided along a main axis of the detectors.
