The method for manufacturing a lining element of much lower thickness than its size in directions perpendicular to the direction of the thickness, comprises supporting a flexible skin (12) by a foam layer, arranging the skin and a rigid substrate (10) in a mold (18, 20), arranging an injection nozzle (22) to communicate an injection opening with a cavity bounded between the skin and the substrate, injecting a fluid plastic material intended to form the foam layer in the cavity, and terminal foaming of the foam layer. The foam layer is supported by the rigid substrate with an opening. The method for manufacturing a lining element of much lower thickness than its size in directions perpendicular to the direction of the thickness, comprises supporting a flexible skin (12) by a foam layer, arranging the skin and a rigid substrate (10) in a mold (18, 20), arranging an injection nozzle (22) to communicate an injection opening with a cavity bounded between the skin and the substrate, injecting a fluid plastic material intended to form the foam layer in the cavity, and terminal foaming of the foam layer. The foam layer is supported by the rigid substrate with an opening. The relative movement of the injection nozzle and the mold is carried out to place the nozzle at a distance from its injection position, and the fastening of the hole of the substrate by an obturator independent of the injection nozzle. The nozzle is in tight, direct or indirect cooperation with the opening of the substrate. The cooperation of the injection nozzle with the opening of the substrate is direct, and the end of the nozzle is in contact with the substrate around the substrate opening. The cooperation of the injection nozzle with the opening is indirect by contacting with the mold, and the sealing of the opening of the substrate is provided by an obturator with automatic fastening arranged on the opening. The contact of the injection nozzle is carried out with interposition of a sealing joint. The fastening of the substrate opening is carried out with an obturator laid out on the opening within the element and which is displaced in position of opening by the injection nozzle. An independent claim is included for a lining element.
