The system has a swing arm (15) connected to a frame (1), and a vibration damper (27) with ends respectively connected to the frame and the arm. A transmission chain (21) extends between a drive pinion (13) and a driven pinion (22) connected to an axle (19) of a hub and transmits torque to a rear wheel (20). The arm pivots around a center of rotation (25) when the hub is displaced on both sides of its reference position corresponding to a position of the hub axle, when the vehicle is in static equilibrium position, where a trajectory of the center of rotation is extended behind the axle.
