The method involves verifying, by a verification unit (5), whether flight conditions are followed, and performing a monitoring of piloting of an aircraft (A) for detecting a disengagement from a managed mode by using a monitoring system (4). An actual position of the aircraft is determined by a determination unit (6). The position is stored by a storage unit (7) and inserted in a flight plan by an actual position insertion unit (8), if flight conditions are followed simultaneously. The current position of the aircraft is displayed on a display screen (12) of the aircraft. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for assistance for piloting of an aircraft during a search and rescue mission (2) an aircraft comprising a device for assistance for piloting of an aircraft during a search and rescue mission.
